A major concern in the boiler industry is safety. From fires to explosions, boilers pose extreme risks if the proper precautions are not taken. Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation takes this into consideration and has developed two types of fire safety products that aid in fire prevention and containment.

The Fusomatic Electric Cut-Off Switch, used in combustion installations and attached to a temperature-monitored area, is approved by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety. The product prevents fires by breaking the burner control circuit when the temperature rises above 165 degrees Fahrenheit and melts the fusible element.

Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation also makes the Fire Safety Gas Shut-off Valves. The model 110-G, utilized in fuel gas piping systems, automatically turns off fuel gas flow when a fire occurs. The product performs without electrical power supply, and as with the Fusomatic Electric Cut-Off Switch, once the surrounding temperature rises in excess of 165 degrees Fahrenheit, the fusible link melts and the internal spring closes the valve.
